Whut Up ATX
What up Atx, aka Capital City, Austin Texas, 512? While listening to Mimi @ Hot 93.3 give a shout out to all City employees for putting on for their city, I got inspired to do the same. All the way from Wells Branch to William Cannon, I've resided in Austin, TX for the past 6 years. Only until recently, did I break out of my limited comfort zone and get to know a few things, still not completely familiar but getting acquainted. I show love to those that show love, stay away from hateraid, and keep it moving. Always on the wire to hear my favorite DJ's spinning downtown, show support to local artist/rappers, and those just passing through.
Here is a few on the radar in no particular order: DJ Grip, Young Spinna, DJ Curren$y, DJ WoodyWood, JKapone, Feddi Man, DJ Knowledge, BRMG (DJ Diamond Tip, DJ Protege, DJ Mike Swing) There's alot of great talent in the 512. DJ La DaDa, DJ Hannibal, Dinky D, Bass Wood Lane, KJ Hines, Ryno, Slim Gutta, Sam Heights, Zeale, Bavu, Dubb Sicks, D-Train, Deuce, Tony Cortez, DJ Havoc, Mr. & Mrs. 512, Montsa Ent., Da Bosnian, Crew54, Dirty Wormz, Matt Sonzola, Club Fuel, Vicci, Sixth Lounge, Firehouse. I am not pretentious, if the music is good, drinks affordable, seats without cum stains, I'll be in the building. All I need is good DJ, a couple shots of patron, money in pocket, good company, Ill be in a zone.
Oh yeah, shout outs to http://www.austin360.com/, http://www.do512.com/, http://www.austinhiphopscene.com/,
http://www.hot933.fm/, and http://www.kvue.com/ which I visit daily.
I'm lubbin my city and got mad respect to Myspace homies in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Miami, Minnesota, New York all puttin on for their city. To give shout outs would take all day and since I got bills to pay with an 8 to 5, until I land my dream job as a Talent scout or VH1 reality show, I'm getting back to work.
P.S. I just wanted to give a mention that if you ever want to know what Austin, Texas is about drive your azz over to Riverside Drive, from Congress Avenue up to Pleasant Valley. You get it all, from riches to rags. Everyday I see people getting up early to take that bus to work/school, hustle the street corner, another day another dollar, cops and robbers. I never seen so much diversity in that drive from the West to the East on Riverside Drive. Peace, be on the look out for them crazy ass drivers!

Monkey Helper

I found out about Minnie, a capuchin monkey. Capuchin monkeys are endlessly curious monkeys good with using tools to assist with daily living. Only 104 monkeys helpers like Minnie are found nationwide. With training costing $30,ooo each, there are not enough Capuchin monkey helpers for the 11 million disabled Americans who need daily living assistance.
Craig Cooke (located in picture to the right)
broke his neck 11 years ago
in a car accident. Now a paraplegic,he relies on Minnie to help bring him things around the house.
An organization, Monkey Helpers, based out of Boston has helped Craig Cook become a spokesman for Helping Hands foundation
and given Minnie a loving home. Minnie has a 30 word command vocabulary and can turn on the computer and load Cd's.
Her favorite command is "Give me a high-five."

Among local news in Austin, "Miracles do Happen", Phoenix is a living example and has been in my prayers along with the rest of the Austin community and Animal Lovers around the world.

Texas Heatwave
Texas Heatwave was within the Austin city limits this past weekend 07/20/08 and finally I was able to attend. An expensive event if you decide to attend at last minute, so word to the wise, get your tickets pre-sale for next year’s event. I will say the money was well spent for the spectacular car show they exhibited.
Now I know why it’s the most talked about event in small towns across West Texas and surrounding areas. The venue provides an opportunity for vendors, spectators, performers, and staff to showcase. The event is very organized from a spectators view. The only complaint I had was when a hateful group starting yelling at me and my friend for slightly touching their fugly plain silver mustang, I doubt it had anything to do with us messing up the car up, but more with them hating on my friend attempting to get a poise for a photo. Now I know you invest tons of money to showcase your car, but like all matter on this universe it will eventually get touched!
RaquelRaquel rocked the event with her presence and she will be making plans to attend the TX Heatwave in Corpus Christi, so plan to attend and have you photo taken with her for only $5. Be the first 5 to have your photo with her and receive a free autographed shirt!
Quite a few urban vendors were in attendance,

Thanks to www.myspace.com/Knushitt Clothing for the promo bag.
DJ Grip was on his grind with Dollarz N Since Ent.
Also, in attendence was the innovator of DRANK, SLOW Your Roll, DJ Currency
be on the lookout for Drank, wrapped vehicle near your city.
All together the event was a blast, despite the heat.
In all I took 400 pictures of the event feel free to drop by my album on photobucket to view.
Texas Heatwave delivered well for a Sunday patron that didn’t want to frequent the mall or spend her day at home. I highly recommend you make plans to attend the next event near you.
p.s.
As much as I fancy Wings Stop, they got me trippin, trying to charge me 25 cents for a
To-Go container. Haters! I needed those 25 cents to vacuum my car!
